Nextdoor Joins Designer Fund’s Bridge, A Community for Designers

Here at Nextdoor, we’re always thinking about community — the neighborhood community is the heart of the product we build and design. So we were thrilled to be invited to join a new community, the Designer Fund’s Bridge program.

Designer Fund hand-picks startups with a strong design culture that are making a meaningful impact on the world, and the Bridge program allows talented designers to apply to work with these companies. If a designer is selected, they’ll work with the startup of their choosing. They can attend educational seminars, and even receive relocation assistance. It’s a dream opportunity, one that shows how central design is to the world today. It’s one that I wish I had early in my career.

Posts by the design team on this blog have been rare, so I’d like to introduce our team and explain a little about what we do. A designer at Nextdoor wears many hats. In a typical day, we’re interviewing users, creating wireframes, and jumping into code to build prototypes. We constantly collaborate with product managers and engineers. We’re a diverse bunch – you can learn a little more about each of us here: Brendan Stromberger, Brian van Veen, Cliff Williams, Jesse Fornear, Tunlin Ou and myself, Ryan Sims.

To find out more about the Bridge Fund, read about their mission. If you know of a product designer (or are one) who would like to apply for a spot, visit here.
