Nextdoor’s Commitment to Privacy:
As a member of Nextdoor’s NOPS team and as a Nextdoor user, I share a lot of the concerns circulating in the news today about privacy on social networks. This topic can be complicated because in order for social networks to be of use we need to be able to share some personal information with our chosen contacts without feeling like all of our private information is on display for the world to see. At Nextdoor, we are absolutely committed to respecting that concern.
What makes Nextdoor different from other social networks is that we are designed from the ground up to complement one of the oldest and most important real-world social networks: your neighborhood. As a result, our website allows people to interact the way they would with their neighbors in person. We encourage you to only share what you would be comfortable sharing with the people that live in your neighborhood.
Nextdoor invests a great deal of time, energy and resources into make our site safe for you to share online the kinds of things you’d be okay sharing with your neighbors in person.
- Only you and your neighbors can see what’s shared.
- Every neighbor has to verify their address.
- Every neighbor signs in with their real name. Just like in person.
- Your website is protected by password and encrypted by HTTPS.
- We never share your info with advertisers.
Privacy, safety and security are priority number one for us here at Nextdoor.
