Fire up your Nextdoor site by signing up new neighbors
We have found that the more people that join a Nextdoor neighborhood, the more active, engaged and useful your site becomes for all. The fastest way to grow your Nextdoor neighborhood is to invite your neighbors*. Your neighbors will be able to verify their accounts immediately by joining through your invitation.
We recently added the ability to send email invitations quickly from your Gmail or Yahoo! Mail address books. However, we understand that you may not have email addresses for everyone in your neighborhood.
In the cases where you do not have email addresses, here are some additional ways to get the word out:
- Print out flyers and bring them with you
Neighbors have told us that printing flyers in advance and keeping them handy when you’re out and about in the neighborhood works well.
- Send postcard invitations to people you know
Every neighbor can send out 10 postcard invitations per month. We’ve learned that the best people to send postcards to are people you know personally, or your closest neighbors.
- Include a personalized message in your invitations
For every style of invitation, you can include a personalized message before sending it. Neighbors are more likely to read your invitation if there’s a friendly message introducing them to why you’re using Nextdoor in your neighborhood.
And of course you can get creative. Bring up Nextdoor in your school’s PTA meeting, at your neighborhood watch meeting, or get your HOA on board.
